Alan Schram has written an interesting article on canadianfinanceblog.com about preparing a budget for Christmas starting now, rather than in November or December when it is likely to late to get your finances in order. The tidbit I liked best was scratching a general list out of things you want to get for the people on your Christmas list so you can take advantage of any sales you see between now and then as well as reduce your overall shopping load come December. The only thing we’d add is to start thinking about setting up a secret santa group for your family and friends which is a great budget helper and adds to the fun of the Christmas season. Getting You Ready For A New Sneaky Santa

As we mentioned in a previous blog post we have added a new feature this Christmas season that ensures that you get a new name this year so you won’t be buying for or receiving from the same person you did last year. In addition to that, we have now cleared all of the name drawings from last year so there won’t be any confusion when everybody starts logging back in for Christmas 2009.

The person that started your group can redraw names at any time simply by clicking the “Draw Names” button on the group home page. If you have any questions about your group or the name drawing please feel free to contact us anytime. Merry Christmas!

All I Want For Christmas Is A New Name

They say variety is the spice of life and when you are talking about gifts variety is the way to go. If you used sneakysanta.com for your secret santa organizer last year then you’ll be happy to know that our website now automatically excludes the name you drew the previous year from the list. This means that you’ll be sure to draw a different name this year and a new person will have your name. Fresh gift ideas are always great, unless you are the unlucky one that weird uncle Jerry draws. If so, you can expect to be receiving that same boxed fruitcake that keeps getting re-gifted annually.

If you don’t want to exclude the names from the previous year then the person in charge of your group can just go in and recheck all the names for each person on the “Draw Names” screen. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Merry Christmas!
