About SneakySanta.Com

What Is SneakySanta.Com?
SneakySanta.Com is a place for family, friends, and coworkers to create groups to share gift ideas with one another.  You can also put a new twist on the old secret santa tradition and have SneakySanta.Com draw names for each person within your group so that each person has a "SneakySanta" within the group that will be getting gifts for them.  You can even set up special rules in the group so that spouses can't draw each other's names or any other rules for name drawing that you'd like.  It's great for families that are spread out or that have grown to the point that drawing names would be more budget friendly.  It is also perfect for those groups of friends or coworkers who like to add a little fun to the Christmas season.  Not only that, it is way cooler than pulling names out of a hat!

How It Began
Way back in 2001 SneakySanta.Com founder Michael Jones' family decided that the family had grown to a point that drawing names would be a good idea for everyone's gift giving budgets.  As a web developer at the time of course he decided to try and make an online way to do it which worked great since the family was spread over a few states.  After putting together some name drawing code, a way for the family members to enter gift ideas for themselves,  and a method to display a few family pictures a new family tradition was born.  Over the next few years improvements were made here and there to the site until we decided it might be something that other people might enjoy using.

Why We Celebrate Christmas
The Reason For The SeasonFor us, Christmas is a birthday party.  It is the day that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.  We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross to reconcile us with God.  Why would we need that?  Think of God as the ultimate parent and we are His children.  Just like any parent, God has rules for us that are ultimately for our own good.  Your parents may have told you not to climb up on the dresser and as child you didn't see the point.  Parents though can see things at a higher level than their children can.  They establish rules and of course there are punishments for breaking those rules.  Even though as children we may not understand the point behind the punishment, God sees things at a higher level.  Jesus has basically stood up and taken our punishment for us and by believing in Him we are forgiven by God for breaking His rules.

Of course there is much more to it than this but plain English works best for us here.  A great book written by Chronicles of Narnia author C.S. Lewis named Mere Christianity is one of our favorites if you'd like to read a "non-preachy" book from someone who was once an Atheist and found Christianity to be the answer for him.

Why You Celebrate Christmas
Maybe you celebrate for much the same reason we do.  Maybe you don't share our beliefs at all, but Christmas is about family, holiday traditions, presents, or all of the above.  Whatever it is about Christmas that is most meaningful to you, we thank you for sharing a part of it with us!
